There is very little information at the moment, just a screenshot.
I am quite excited for it, and cannot wait for a more detailed announcement!

Yeah I have seen that screenshot. It looks terrible. Spectromancer looks great compared to it.
I would provide a better feeedback on why it looks so bad but of course that would be pointless since developers would just ignore that or would not be able to comprehend it.
But hay at least it is 2D and I would like to play some new CCG game. Getting tired of that pay to win rigged Riggedstone game.

Yeah I have seen that screenshot. It looks terrible. Spectromancer looks great compared to it.
I agree, but just compared to Spectro (the best game of all times), and no game will ever reach Spectro (in the long run) lol...
Compared to most other TCGs the screenshot looks pretty good imo, and I am sure, it will be much better than Astral Masters, what was also already a milestone in the genre. But I doubt, it will reach Astral Tournament (2nd best game of all times) lol...
For a deck-construction-game the screenshot looks even great, since there are not any really good out atm imo...yeah, the creatures seem to be a bit strange (like for example Siege Golem), but there are also the good old ones like Efreet, Holy Avenger and Hasten (spell)...
Astral Masters just sucked due to the endless circle-combos (There was even an endless combo!), that was truly annoying...but with a normal you move - I move (as we find it in Magic), I think this game will make it! Modified by JoeChen on 2015-05-31 21:07:37 CyberneticPony | 2015-06-01 10:53:06 |
I still think it's a troll gesture to presume the developers of not being willing or able to accept feedback.
As for aesthetics, it certainly looks different, but honestly, don't think many people play for the aesthetics, they play for the underlying game.
Also, Hearthstone isn't rigged. I agree it fits under the "pay to win" category though, because paying money confers an advantage (in the short term, you can still grind all the cards, which is semi-redeeming).

Why not? We can comprehend. Just consider that we may have different points of view and different goals/approaches.
That screenshot is a bit obsolete, but even at release point everything is not fixed in stone: AH is designed as a long-term "live" project, so many parts of it will be improved (taking the feedback into account, of course!) Modified by Cooler on 2015-06-01 13:14:33

I assume you are a CM. By some of your posts it seems that you are actually good at your job ( that is a very rare thing since most CM are a joke ). But you are not a developer or someone in charge. Any way to contact them directly or to be sure that they will receive the feedback? Posting feedback is 99% of time completely pointless.
Just look at that topic in "off-topic" named " Astral Heroes screen". Look at the responses from the drones there:
"great, good job, " Looks pretty good! Consider me a definite customer :-) " etc..... Wall has more opinion then them. Unfortunately developers only listen to drones like that because it is nice when someone strokes your ego. Or look at that drone here calling me a troll because I actually have a brain and an opinion. You can not have a discussion with brain dead kids like that.
Spectromancer is a good game so that is the reason why I would like to try this game als, but it will probably be a dead game like Spectromancer. Spectromancer has good gameplay but that is not enough for a successful game. What is problematic is that Spectromancer acctualy looks a lot better then this new game. Bad design decisions, bad UI, bad color usage etc.
P.S. When is the release or alpha, beta stage? Like I said, I still want to test this game. I will probably buy it since I assume gameplay it self will be fun but it is a shame it will be dead soon.

You make so many presumptions, then wonder why people don't want your feedback and accept the feedback of "drones".
But at least these so-called "drones" give constructive feedback; they say WHY something is good or WHY something is bad.
You did not explain WHAT the mistakes were in Astral Masters or what "Bad design decisions, bad UI, bad color usage etc" actually means specifically.
Honestly, as far as I'm concerned, success to a developer is measured by a metric like sales. Spectromancer hasn't done too poorly in that metric. If you have another metric, you may want to use that rather than just say "Spectromancer does not have enough to be a successful game".
"Or look at that drone here calling me a troll because I actually have a brain and an opinion. You can not have a discussion with brain dead kids like that."
Last time I checked, people with brains don't start a sentence with a conjunctive.

I would like to "reach" someone who is in charge ( working on Astral Heroes ). Are you a developer for AH? What kind of development? Like i said, steam has a ton of CM pretending to be developers.
Posting feedback for someone who has no influence is pointless. Tell me to who I can send my feedback that actually can change some things and I will. Of course that will probably be pointless also since developers in 99,9% of cases are too ignorant to recognize good feedback.
And they like drones stroking their ego. You see how you respond to me " if your feedback is "everything is bad or wrong" - it's OK. But quite pointless. "
But you do not post the same thing when drones/trolls like that horse post things: " OMG this game best thing evar!!1! ..." Yeah because that is so constructive.
Of course, that is understandable but I wanted to point out the double standard.
... BTW, I personally completely satisfied with this metric for Spectromancer :) So for me it's definitely a successful game.
For a CM you do a good job but if you where in charge of my game finance / economy plan and anything related to money I would fire you immediately. But then again as a gamer I would hire you since it would be nice to have a game that is not all about greed like most games today.

You know, you get farther with what you want when you don't act rude and aggressive about it. I don't know why you insist on constantly having this attitude, but whatever the case, Cooler is definitely a person who can take feedback, and he does all the time. I suspect that the reason there is no good place to leave AH feedback right now is simply because the game isn't far enough in development. With Spectromancer, feedback opportunities began as soon as there was a free beta. I know because I was there. I've been playing the game and posting on the forum since 2008, and I've seen countless examples of the Spectro devs engaging with players about their feedback and taking it into consideration. Sometimes player suggestions are implemented. Sometimes they are not. But I have never seen them ignored.

You have one of the most inflated egos I've seen in anyone in a long time. It is for this reason I doubt you actually have any real accolades under your belt. There was no double standard demonstrated by Cooler. Nobody has even TRIED to post feedback for a game yet that has no released press about it, except you. "Looks pretty good! Consider me a definite customer :-)" was not feedback, it was just Wavelength saying that he liked the visuals and will likely buy the game. Feedback usually comes at the point when the game is being given testing in the wild. I cannot see any comments in that thread otherwise that look remotely like feedback.
Your quote of me is completely fabricated. The only two things I've said on the subject is"I wonder when this will be released," and that people that play these kinds of games usually don't care about graphics. I have not given any positive/negative opinion on the game because IT'S NOT OUT.
If you're not a developer in the business, then why are you commenting on how developers are doing their job? If you can do it better, start your own company!
If you are a developer, why are you wasting your time complaining about other developer's games? The worse other developer's games, the better your potential in the market!
One thing I'd probably suggest, is that they'd likely accept feedback from people who have actually played their past products (ie, loyal customers). Your level 1 account suggest you're one of the least likely people they'd actually select for feedback. (They'd still want feedback from people with little experience with their products, but they'd need less of them.)

FUCK! I made a long post where first I insulted that horse, talked about CM, developers way of NOT listening of feedback and some other stuff and then I made a list of all the problems with Astral Heroes. AND then I clicked wrong "x" and could not return that post back.
So I will write again only my feedback based upon that Astral Heroes ( from now on = AH ) screenshot, Astral Masters that I downloaded yesterday ( since some things will probably be similar ). Disclaimer: What you are about to read is not meant to be seen by drones/fantards. If you are one of those - leave. I will talk about Hearthstone ( if you hate that game that is ok, it only means you are normal, but the game does game some good things ) and some other games probably.
Every suggestion is important, even when some things do not seem to be a big deal.
Grammar is as it is, I blame google.
Plus this is all probably pointless but I want to share my wisdom because it feels good fro my ego and I feel generous and would like to see AH grow.
Lets start: AH screenshot =
Modified by AstralHero on 2015-06-06 13:29:29 AstralHero | 2015-06-06 13:34:11 |
1. The border of the cards is blue. The mana crystal is blue also. That is not a good thing since they blend together then. I suggest a different color for the card border since mana is usually represented with a blue color.
2. The card edges should be less sharp, so they look more like cards HS example:
3. The color of the health is almost in every game red ( blood/hearth etc. ). it looks strange to see green color used for health and red for attack. That should be reversed.
4. The shape of the health crystal is ok but the shape of the attack one and of the mana crystal should be better. The non symetrical shape of mana crystal is not a good choice. Attack crystal should have a more gemoetrical and a better look suggesting attack value.
5. Options, surrender and replace buttons should not be there. Again, copy HS :
( I can already hear those drones crying " uuu but this is not HS this game is special it must not use nothing from any other game, snif , snif, lick , lick " )
Esc to go to the options - concede and a small icon at the bottom like in HS is better. On the screen there should only be end turn. ( Position seems to be ok, do keep it in the midle of the screen since it is easier / more ergonomic to move the mouse to that position ( if it was not so close the the edge it would be even better but that would take rearranging of the hero portraits etc. so I will not go there. )
- Replace is also not needed to be constantly there ( unless you can replace your cards every turn? )
- Surrender should definitely also not be there all the time. Plus I do not like that term at all. Some less "insulting" term could be used.
6. I AM SURE! It is a game it is not a program where one wrong click can lose you millions or hours of work. If I press exit I want to EXIT THE GAME! If I press "surrender" then I WANT TO SURRENDER! Press esc - click on surrender = game ends. Some people do like that "are you sure thing" so you could make it a option. " Are you sure you do not want to see " are you sure" " ? YES/NO.
7. In the place of "options" and "surrender" should be my opponent deck and in the place of "replace" should be my own deck. That way I can look at my legendary card back and my opponent can look in fear at my legendary card back.
8. Those card backs in HS in a good trick. It should be a part of this game. Yes, even something like getting a legend card back means a lot when you want to addict people to your game. Plus it is nice to brag with it.
9. I would suggest also a 1 month season with ranks similar like in HS. It is a short season and all that but it does have a big effect on addicting people to the game also.Longer season would not have such a good effect. It gives you a reason to grind every season and feeling of accomplishment every month. ( I do not know if this is going to be a free to play game so disusing rewards for higher ranks and things like that I will leave out )
10. Astral Heroes currently is locked at 60 FPS. How do I know that? Because developers LOVE to do that. Some people do have 120 hz/144 hz monitors and even if not, it is nice to be able to set FPS to a higher rate.If nothing else make it an option that can be edited in the config files.
11. Those heads/avatars look terrible. Only seeing the head is a bad choice also. I do hope we can use custom ones like in Spectromancer. On the other hand that could be a problem since some people would use bad images and also it would mean you can not sell official avatars. Or you could could even give people an option to buy "custom avatar option" = they send you an image for approval and then you allow them to use it. Maybe even custom card backs could be sold. ( I just had this idea so it should be discussed further )
12. The info about previous turns would be more simple if it was like in HS , but i asume at the same place the card will be shown ( when you mouse over some card to read the text ) ? I do like how there is no text on the cards. That is a nice touch. it is a digital card game, there is no need for text to be all the time on it.
13. The card art really does not look good.I think in Spectromancer you can actually change the way your card looks so maybe that will be an option in this game also. It would be nice ( but your opponent should still see the default version of course ). On the other hand you could sell an option to change the card looks ( this talk is more about way for the game to earn money then it is about what I would like to see ).
14. There is a problem with the Hero placement. You are "forced" to look at your opponent name. That is not a good thing but developers LOVE to do that. If you want to achive emotions like rage, and people going for revange and all that then ok. It is better if you do not see your opponent name, especialy if you lose against the same person again. Or it can just be some irritating name like " XXbunnycokieeater ". An option NOT to see your opponent name unless you chose to would be great.
15. On the other hand it would be also nice to be able to hide your name in the game. I wanted to stream HS but the though of some scum sniping ( watching my stream to see what cards I have ) me stooped me from doing that ( among other things )
16. The board looks terrible! What is up with that? The Spectromancer one Cards look better also. Some colors and background with more life would be nicer. You could sell custom boards also or allow custom ones. Now it just looks dead and lifeles. Dark background like in some other card games is not good also.
17. Chat should be there but it should be optional and not like in Spectromancer. If both sides have chat ON then they can talk, or you could send a friend request at the end. I do not always want to see that troll "gg" at the end of the game
18. It seems that the game will be easily used with a mouse only so I would suggest that if you press any letter on the keyboard you auto start to type/chat. I see no reason why you should first press enter to type something.
19. Some people do not like that scratching sound when you attack with a card. Maybe there could be an option to disable or edit only that sound? For me it is ok but more options like that would be nice.
20. Even loading screen and sound is important. Astral master actually has that nice black screen and "loading" when you start the game. Bejeweld 3 has a great little trick. You hear " WELCOME" when you start the game and "GOODBYE" when you close the game.
That is it for now.

Wow, that's really groundless. I even don't know how to lock FPS to 60! You either use VSync or not. If you use Vsync, FPS is always a highest possible divider of refresh rate. Without synchronization it gives me 250-400 FPS in 1080 mode on my PC.

There are a lot of good suggestions in there, AH. I don't know why you still insist that anyone who disagrees with a single one of your ideas is a "drone" though. If I may offer one counterargument at the terrible risk of being a "drone," I think your suggestion about skipping the "are you sure?" windows for surrendering or turn skipping is misplaced. The point is so that if people accidentally click those buttons they can take it back. It would be very frustrating to hit surrender by accident when you are about to win and have that just end the game for you. If anything, the option you suggest should be to turn it off, not making it off by default and letting it be turned on, because a lot of people won't realize they have to turn it on and will find out the hard way. I also disagree with your suggestions that features like avatar and card image changes should be sold. No reason to put that behind a paywall when it's easy to just allow game files to be replaced in the folder. Frankly given how obnoxious your attitude is I don't think you have any right to demand specific responses to your ideas, but Cooler is pretty cool so he will probably do it.

Since that post is awfully long, I won't quote it, but I actually disagree with some of that feedback, so here goes: 1. Agreed it could be changed, especially the "white text on blue" doesn't stand out too well.
2. There is no need. Sharpness or lack of it really doesn't accomplish anything.
3. Wrong; red does symbolise blood but that can often be the blood of the opponent (aggression). Green can symbolise life for health. Red in Magic is aggressive, and Green has the lifegain (along with white). Solforge, another popular card game, also has attack as red and life as green. Plenty of games have this the other way around, so you're just ignorant.
4. Sorta agree; the green is clearly a shield, but the red just seems like a shard; I think it should resemble a sword.
5. Agree surrender should not be in a similar area of the screen to the end turn button, but the replace button is a great visual cue; newer players may not realise they can replace cards if they just jump into the game and don't have the button there. Reason Hearthstone doesn't have that button is that hearthstone limits all of its interactivity to playing cards.
6. Baseless conjecture. Also, see what HeadphonesGirl said on this topic.
7. Ugh, this literally made me sick reading it. The sad part is it's a good idea because it'll make money from vain idiots. I'd personally rather they don't stoop that low.
8. As far as I know, buying the game will get you all the cards. This is something that draws people to games by this company.
9. Most of your suggestions are from Hearthstone, you raging fanboy. A monthly tournament is generally what we do here, and it works out. Other card games tend to use tournaments like MtG's Grand Prix system etc to attract players, and all you're basically saying is "Hur dur, Blizzard is popular, look at how they do their ladders" but you're mixing cause and effect. Blizzard became popular first, that's why the laddering system they apply to all their games works, their ladder system would actually fail without initial popularity. Blizzard's popularity was mostly founded in older titles, which did not have the types of ladders they have now, but simpler ones that ran on ELO (do not confuse iccup with b.net, iccup uses a better ranking system).
10. Baseless conjecture that Cooler confirmed is false.
11. We probably will have custom avatars, but I actually think this is only being criticised by you because of your self-image problems.
12. Hearthstone again lol, you sound like atoms.
13. I actually like this idea; monetising card art would be good for the devs and the community to chip in artwork.
14. "Why make your insecurities our problem" - Protein World
15. This makes sense for streaming purposes. Remember, you can block your opponent and your own name from the stream with screen region blocking images that every streaming software provides, but for letting the opponent see your name, it's ok for that to be hidden in automatch I think. The downside is reporting trolls.
16. Probably because game is in alpha stage honestly, but I do think they'll have a better looking board afterwards. Monetising boards is fine too, Solforge used it to great effect.
17. Probably a good idea, turning off text from trolls is nice.
18. Fine IF there are no hotkeys.
19. Agree with this one too, having more customisability over sounds is a positive feature.
20. There really aren't many loading screens required in this game, and I don't think they were done badly in Spectromancer. I doubt the devs could really cock this up.
Of course people who disagree with you are "drones". But for some reason, everyone who treats other people like you do seems to be an idiot. It's the Dunning-Kruger effect in practice.

But he's not polite, I don't care if compared to Steam he's not as crazy. That's like saying "oh, but it's not as bad as youtube comments." Sure it's not, doesn't mean it's not obnoxious.
I find it really difficult to accept "teachings" from someone that believes in auras, backtravels and angels. Sorry Steph, a girl's got to follow her own path in life.
Also, he's not innovative with words, he's just a troll, he's probably done this routine many times.
I also never said his feedback wasn't appreciated, just terrible. Some of it is subjective (he cannot seem to tell the difference between objectively good changes and subjectively good changes, which need market testing to really be evaluated), some of it is really ignorant (the life being red thing was hilariously dumb) and some of it is just Hearthstone fanboying ("Why are cards square and not round?" he asks. The question may have a known answer, but it's irrelevant to ask.)
What's funny is that he even said Hearthstone is rigged to start this off; so I honestly think this guy has a superiority complex because he seems to be above every other developer. I am doubtful however he has any game under his own belt.

I find it really difficult to accept "teachings" from someone that believes in auras, backtravels and angels. Sorry Steph, a girl's got to follow her own path in life.
A backtravel is no belief just an activity...just remember what you have done yesterday and remember also the emotions...that's the way it works basically, very simple...
Auras are also a very simple thing, each one can see them easily, just observe some people and you will see the energies around them...I see also no colors, but the energies I even feel...
To come to Angels you need a bit logic...you can prove the Karma-rule with the backtravels...it's not a punishment, it's a learning-progress...so you slowly level-up by gathering experience (Touch the fire, and you know, it's hot.)...
Humans are not really high on this evolution-scale, just a better animal basically (at start)...the first higher being we call Angel, just a term, you can call it also Spirit out of physical Karma or whatever...
The Karma for Angels continues on a plain spiritual level (much brighter plane with endless more possibilities, the bible calls it Eden), and they are not forced anymore to take physical bodies...compare it with this game, it's very simple...
Things are so simple, that humans came up with religions and dogmas (like materialism, the thing in what you believe) to complicate it endlessly and actually just confuse everyone lol...
Thx very much to let me see it with your eyes to understand what is the problem... (I will add this post to my topic...oh, where are my powers lol?!...never fall as an Angel LOL..) Modified by StephanieF on 2015-06-07 05:28:23 HeadphonesGirl | 2015-06-07 06:06:01 |

Also I would like to hear yes/no/maybe on my suggestions.
1. Maybe. Such things are constantly tuned during the game lifespan (art pieces reworked based on surveys results and other feedback). 2. The same. (but unlikely) 3. The same (but extremely unlikely since widely used for a long time) 4. The same. 5. No (it's against UI concepts and principles) 6. No 7. ??? 8. Maybe. 9. I can't comment this - it's Estarhs area. 10. Answered above. 11. Custom avatars are available for premium accounts. 12. No. (current log works much better) 13. See 1. 14. Maybe. 15. No. 16. See 1. (actually Spectro board looks strange, this one is much better) 17. No (this makes chat useless) 18. Maybe. (BTW, both Enter and Space are hotkeys for "End Turn") 19. It's the same like with art: anyone can alter game resources and it's impossible to forbid this. We do nothing to prevent this. In official version sounds are improved the same way as art. 20. Our intention is to adjust loading time to zero as close as possible. Voice sounds are considered, but this is very risky (in terms of effect*success_chance/cost) improvement, so not a priorited one. AstralHero | 2015-06-07 08:51:08 |
5. and 17. are such a bad choices. It does seem that some choices are made because you are trying to make a good game and not trying to scam people like in some other card games BUT those choices are still wrong. I do like that AH is not all about greed but 5. and 17. are a good example how you are still rookies when it comes to some things.

Btw, Are you sure Fighter106 is cooler, CP?I think Flash version is developed by someone else AFAIK. Not completely sure, but the GoP flash version is credited to 2 people; Ivan Polyacove and Jagdish S Chanda. Since Ivan is not mentioned on the TnB flash version, I probably muddled who Fighter106 is. In fact, since it is "Fighter106" and not "Cooler" I'm probably wrong, but I guess Cooler could tell us himself. I'll edit the original post for now till we can get a confirm! Regardless, I'm pretty sure the philosophy is shared by the staff.

Fighter106 is Jagdish. We are not involved into the flash version development except providing resources (art/sounds/scenarios) and consulting about the algorithms (deck building, AI, etc). All development and publishing was done by Jagdish. He is cool! :)

Since Astral Hero has a couple good ideas (among a lot of not-so-good ones), just want to sound off on his suggestions myself: 1) Agree totally. The mana cost does not stand out as much as it should. Maybe have a golden border, or one that's blue on the bottom and green on top. 2) No opinion. I'm not an artist. 3) Obviously AH has limited experience with strategy games, based on this misguided suggestion. Green for health and red for attack is good. 4) It would be nice to have something more indicative of "attack" and "health" so that I don't ever mix these two numbers up (especially if I'm red-green colorblind, which is pretty common). But readability should be the first concern. 5) Hearthstone has good design, not flawless design. It's very visually appealing, but doesn't provide everything that it needs to for the player. Having these options (like Surrender) available is a good thing and should not be taken away. In Spectromancer, some people will use the Surrender button more often than they use the average Card button. Should we hide the cards behind two layers of menus as well? 6) Making the "Yes/No" thing an option is an okay suggestion. Taking it away entirely is a very bad suggestion, though. 7) Meh. Card backs as rewards are honestly really dumb. 8) It's worth saying again. Card backs as rewards are really dumb. I don't know what kind of sheep someone has to be to make this one of their primary goals of play (and it WAS the primary goal of HS's Ranked Play until they started the Invitationals, which I think are pretty cool). 9) You probably don't know this, but Spectro's "Arena" does reset your rank each month. Log on any time you feel like and see how many people are playing in the Arena. Very bad suggestion. 10) Can't respond to this, but Cooler did. 11) Custom avatars are the way to go. Small dev teams with a successful player base shouldn't spend too much time and money on graphics. Although, I'd love a system where the avatars were like "paper dolls" that you could dress with clothes/accessories you win. 12) One of the very few things that irks me about Spectro is the log window. It shows you a lot of things that are unnecessary (Faerie Apprentice attacks), doesn't go back very far, and mixes chat up with gameplay log data. I'd go about changing it in a much different way than AH would though - I'd like to just have a button where I can review all previous plays - things that required a player's input to do. 13) The card art is fine. 14) I know Hearthstone's community contains a lot of assholes (and I know this because I played in it), but this community is a lot different. People very rarely BM (bad-mannered), and they are punished for verbal abuse. Also, in Spectro (and, I assume, Astral Masters), you can pick your opponent, and the player pool is small enough (a couple thousand active players, only about 50 of which might be on at a given time) that you can tailor your strategy to the player, not just the class or the cards. So this is a bad suggestion. By the way, I think the reason so many people in HS are BM is precisely because you can't chat, can't rematch, don't see the player as an individual person, etc. I understand Blizzard's reasoning when they made these very willful decisions, but I think they were horrible decisions. 15) Bad suggestion - only because it's a very slippery slope for BMing. 16) This is mostly an opinion thing - but I would agree that the board should be more colorful. It's a lot of samey shades of tan right now. 17) A better way to instantly ignore abusive players (similar to HS's "Squelch" option) would be nice. But this shouldn't be a global option - part of the goal is to foster a community. We shouldn't encourage hermitting. If players want to mute their opponent that badly, let them make two clicks to do it. 18) Gonna go the other way with it and say we need more hotkeys. But if there aren't, I agree that typing should automatically start to chat. 19) Modding capabilities are always good. 20) I'm 100% with you on this one. Adding a little bit of feel and warmth to the game makes it a nicer experience, and it doesn't cost a lot of time or money to do it. I think HS focuses too much on this kind of thing, but I still appreciate that it's there, and little things like a voice welcoming you to the game can only be positive.
Cooler | 2015-06-09 13:10:04 |
Since Astral Hero has a couple good ideas (among a lot of not-so-good ones), just want to sound off on his suggestions myself:... My 2 cents: 9. Arena was very popular when it was introduced, but then it came to current state. However, some players were very enthusiastic about the Arena (hey, Stephanie!) I think Arena can be a good thing if we had more active players. So it may work in AH. 12. I agree that log/chat window needs customization. But what happens on the AH board is much more complicated than in Spectro and even HS, so sometimes detailed explanation is important. Of course, experienced players doesn't always need it.
17. It would be possible to put some players into the "silent" mode (i.e. disable chat for them) as a punishment, but it may be useful if you can enter this mode yourself (if you don't want to chat at all). That's OK. Modified by Cooler on 2015-06-11 10:38:58 markgil | 2015-10-29 23:11:14 |
