Ok, in reading a ton of posts, I see statements like:
"I play fire Fire 3 when hit with a Water 2". If I understand the number correctly, it stands for the card position in the deck. It would seem though that the specfic card in inmaterial based on the many statements. Does it matter which card is occupying the Fire 3 position or am I reading the posts too literal and the card currently at Fire 3 does need consideration based on it's abilities?
Also, I played online last night and in addition to the standard duel there is a training option. I saw no difference in the training mode as compared to the duel mode. In fact, I even earned my Chaos badge/reward for the win. What does the training mode do? v 1.03.
Thanks. Modified by Volt on 2010-01-27 18:49:15 | Forgin | 2010-01-27 18:58:15 |
Training mode means the are no statistics saved of your fight. In normal duel they game keeps track of how often you win and lose with each house.
And in each house there is only 1 card associated with each mana cost. There is only 1 card that costs 3 fire: Priest of Fire. same goes for all other amounts of mana, in each house. So when someone talks about water 7, he means the card in water house that costs 7.

So now I'll ask the rehtorical question, why say Water 7 and not Giant Turtle? Saying water turtle defintly means more to my memory and and image in my head than the house and cost. But as the noob here, that may be my issue.

i think a lot of it has to do with that a lot of the people who play this game don't speak english natively so they get all the names mixed up. it's just easier to understand.

OK, that makes a lot of sense. After reading about 50 more posts, I doubt I'll ever put into the game what some have, they know the cards and options inside and out. I still enjoy it on a casual level.
Did I read somewhere that the people you can duel with are limited by levels? It might be fun to see how fast a lvl 14 can take me down :)

You can only play a "duel" (rated match) against people close to your level (within four levels of you, or between half your level and twice your level). However, you can play a "training" (unrated match) against anyone.

Who have no hint for this - Fire-5 - please let me know.

Yeah, it doesn't pop up for me anymore either. I just kind of assumed it was known and didn't want to be annoying by saying anything.

If I had known some people couldn't see the pop-ups, I probably would have opted for the full names instead. It's probably best to say both. Fire 5 (Orc Chieftan).
The pop ups have always worked for me.

Hey Turin the other day I discovered the origin of your username when browsing wikipedia and went "ah!"
I don't really need the pop ups, since I've played enough that I know instantly what people mean by the numbers but I definitely think it is an issue worth fixing. It occurred to me a while ago and then I forgot about it.

Wow I've read The Children of Hurin but I never recognized the name. I should read it again I suppose.
