Just discovered this fantastic game on Kongregate and came here last week to buy and support this game.
I've played a bunch of Yugi games on PC and Gameboy Advance, and played Bam on Kon, and played Magic on PC. Gotta say:
-Spectro's game design is superior. From the board layout, to the combat and magic systems, to the rules, to the classes.
-Gameplay is more addictive, less predictable, and forces me to use the tools that I have, as opposed to spamming cards and custom decks.
-The mana system is easier for me to grasp than Magic's, and of course it doesn't exist in Yu-Gi-Oh.
- I like the different modes, classes, and difficulty levels.
- The artwork is super. The "limited" number of cards really make them stand out and have personalities.
- The various strategies and matchups make such a deep game.
Yes! It's always nice to see a new player making a thread like this instead of "Why can't I build custom decks?!!"
I think spectro appeals to a niche crowd, but those who "get" it know there's no other game like this and see the elegance of its design. Welcome to the community!
Welcome to the boards! You've got a lot to look forward to in Spectro - it's one of those games that you can keep learning and getting better at for years to come. Hope to see you online sometime!
I hope to see you eventually when I could build up my level. Currently seeing how deep solo play is, and still playing every day. Wow, what a game.
