What is Spectromancer? Spectromancer is an online fantasy card game in which players participate in magical duels against other mages by strategically summoning creatures and casting spells. Each mage uses five magical elements during a duel - Fire, Water, Air and Earth, plus a fifth related to the specific mage type. There are six mage types in the game: Clerics use Holy power; Mechanicians use Mechanics; Necromancers use Death; Chaosmasters use Chaos; Dominators uses Control and Illusionists use Illusions. Players are able to duel against the computer or against other online players live The team behind Spectromancer are Alexey Stankevich, creator of Astral Tournament and Astral Masters, along with game design luminaries Richard Garfield (Magic: The Gathering, Vampire: The Eternal Struggle, Star Wars Trading Card Game, RoboRally) and Skaff Elias (Magic: The Gathering Ice Age, Harry Potter Trading Card Game). Q: WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE TRIAL CLIENT? In the trial version of Spectromancer you will be able to play 1/3 of the campaign, have access to single player mode where you will be able to play against the computer, and you will be able to play online against other opponents. In the Trial version that has online multiplayer support you have access to one of the wizards – The Cleric and the Illusionist. Q: WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE FULL CLIENT? If you purchase the Full version of Spectromancer you will be able to play all of the campaign, have access to single player mode where you will be able to play against the computer, and you will be able to play online against other opponents. In the full version you will have access to all 6 wizards, Clerics, Mechanicians, Necromancers, Chaosmasters, Dominators and Illusionists. Q: WHEN WILL THE FULL VERSION OF SPECTROMANCER BE AVAILABLE? (HOW LONG IS THE BETA PERIOD?) The Full Version of Spectromancer is expected to release in late Spring 2008. Q: WHEN WILL THE BETA VERSION WITH MULTIPLAYER CAPABILITY BE AVAILABLE? The multiplayer version of the Beta will be released in mid-march. Q: HOW DO I PURCHASE THE FULL GAME? The full version of the game will be available in late Spring. We hope to offer a pre-release version of the Full client a couple of weeks before the official launch. When the Full client is ready, you can purchase the full version of Spectromancer by running the latest trial client and selecting “Purchase” from the main screen. You must have an Internet connection in order to purchase Spectromancer. Q: DO I HAVE TO PURCHASE ADDITIONAL CARD PACKS? Spectromancer comes with 60 maps, 6 wizards and all the cards you’ll need to play the game. All the cards available to the 6 wizards are available to you when you download the client. As new maps or wizards are released, new cards will be released with them and once you purchase those maps or wizards you’ll receive all the cards. You are not required to purchase any expansions to play Spectromancer, but you must have the most current maps in order to participate in the prize tournaments that will scheduled every month. Q: HOW MANY WIZARDS ARE THERE? There are 6 wizards available (Clerics, Mechanicians, Necromancers, Chaosmasters, Dominators and Illusionists ) in the full game and 1 wizard available (Cleric) in the trial version. Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOTSEAT, LOCAL NETWORK AND ONLINE LEAGUE? Spectromancer has three different ways to support multiplayer functionality. Hotseat allows two players to play against each other using only one computer, taking turns at the keyboard. Local Network allows players to play against each other within their own LAN. Online League allows players to play against other players from around the world! Q: HOW OFTEN WILL NEW CONTENT BE RELEASED? The current plan is to release new maps every 3 months and a new wizard every 6 months. This could change as we move forward. Q: DO I HAVE TO HAVE AN ACCOUNT TO PLAY SPECTROMANCER? You do not need an account to play the single player or the first 1/3 of the campaign, but you must have an account in order to participate in multiplayer or to purchase the full version of Spectromancer. An account can be created using the Spectromancer Client. You create an account by choosing Multiplayer, then Online League and then Create Account. Q: I’M HAVING TROUBLE LOGGING IN, WHO DO I CONTACT? If you are having account-related problems, please contact customerservice@spectromancer.com. All other issues, please post them to the Spectromancer Forums. Q: I FORGOT MY PASSWORD, WHAT DO I DO? Please contact customerservice@spectromancer.com, or go to the Spectromancer forums and follow the sign-in instructions there. The account used in the Spectromancer Forums is the same account used to log onto the Spectromancer Online League server. Q: I PURCHASED THE FULL CLIENT/A NEW MAP/A NEW WIZARD, HOW DO I LOAD THEM INTO MY CLIENT? After you’ve purchased the full Spectromancer client or new content, a button will appear on the first page of your Spectromancer client indicating that there is new content to download. Press that button and follow the instructions. Q: DO I NEED AN INTERNET CONNECTION TO PLAY? You need an Internet connection to play Multiplayer. You are not required to have an Internet connection to play the campaign or single player. If you have purchased the full version of the client and you wish to play the complete campaign, you must have an Internet Connection in order for your client to unlock the appropriate features. Q: CAN I SHARE THE BETA and TRIAL CLIENT WITH MY FRIENDS? YES! Please do. They will need their own account and any content you purchased will NOT be available to them. Q: HOW FAST OF A CONNECTION DO I NEED? As long as you have a dedicated Internet connection, you should be fine. You may see performance issues with dial-up or satellite. |
